ALFALFA

Medicago sativa L

Description

Annual forage plant, erect, branched, perennial, 45-100 cm high. Erect and smooth stems; trifoliate leaves. Oblong or obovate folioles, about 2 cm long and 0.5 cm wide. The flowers are blue, sustained in a dense, cylindrical cluster. The fruit is an open spiral legume.

Indications

Alfalfa is a plant with high nutritional value as well as a good therapeutic element.

  • Anemia. Alfalfa is traditionally used to treat anemia caused by vitamin and mineral deficiencies.
  • Convalescences, malnutrition and weight loss.
  • Hemorrhages in general.
  • Hypercholesterolemia and hypertriglyceridemia
  • Arteriosclerosis.
  • Menopause.
  • Osteoporosis.
