SHEPHERD'S PURSE

Capsella bursa-pastoris L

Description

Herbaceous plant with erect-ascending stem up to 40 cm tall. Basal leaves in rosette, more or less toothed, the middle and upper ones seated and entire or slightly toothed. Pinkish-white flowers, in clusters. Fruit in pedicellate silicle, triangular in shape.

Subcosmopolitan nitrophilous plant, which likes dry meadows.

Indicaciones

Internal use:
  • Hemorrhages of any etiology: epistaxis, hematuria, metrorrhagia, hemoptysis, heavy menstruation.
  • Varicose veins and hemorrhoids
  • Arterial hypotension.
  • Traditionally it is also used in cystitis (associated with buchu and corn) and dysmenorrhea.
  • External use: in hemorrhagic superficial skin lesions, for antisepsis and wound healing.
